Recommended Trailer Hitch Size/Class for Use with Bike Rack on 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
Question:
Im looking for 1 1/4inch receiver hitch for a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo. able. The main use will be with a Swagman 2 bike hitch rack. Is one of the hitches better suited for this use? I like the Curt because is uses all 4 of the mounting bolts and doesnt require trimming the side under body panels. Any advice would be appreciated.

We offer both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III hitches for your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. All can be seen on the linked page. When a vehicle can take two sizes/classes of hitch we almost always recommend the larger and higher-capacity Class III option. For what usually amounts to literally just a few more dollars the 2-inch Class III hitch usually offers higher weight capacity and generally broader compatibility with the range of available hitch-mount accessories on the market.
But if you already own 1-1/4-inch Class II-compatible accessories like a 2-bike rack or cargo carrier then the Curt option # C12113 is my recommendation.
Although hitch adapters are available to allow use of one size accessory in another size of hitch all such adapters cost you hitch capacity - they cut it in half - and some bike rack makers (Yakima, Saris and Swagman, to name a few) even void your bike rack warranty if their rack is used with any hitch adapter.
