Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack For 2 Beach Cuiser Bikes On 2004 Ford Focus C-Max Hatchback
Question:
My daughter and I each got a beach cruiser for Xmas. We live two hours from the beach and are planning to take these w us every month when we go to camp. I am having trouble discerning what carrier I should get for my 2014 Ford C-Max hatch back. Also the cruisers are 41 pounds each. Wed live to also be able to add a third lighter mountain bike but realize that probably cant happen. Can you help?

For your 2014 Ford C-Max hatch back, I recommend getting a trailer hitch mounted bike rack due to the weight of your bikes. The trunk mounted racks are rated for 35 lb bikes, so unfortunately that will only leave you with hitch or roof mounted options.
For your application, I recommend the 2014 Ford C-Max Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class II - 1-1/4", # C12092. This installation will also require use of the stabilization strap # 18050.
For your bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting, # S64683. This rack will allow you up to 45 lb bikes, but unfortunately won't allow for a 3rd bike. I've attached a video of this bike rack and it's installation for you to view.
