The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195, should be mounted in a spot that is accessible and easily viewed by the driver of the tow vehicle. On most vehicles, customers install their brake controller on the right hand or left hand side of the steering wheel on the lower part of the vehicle's dash. Locating the brake controller in this area will allow the driver the ability to view the LCD display of the controller and also be able to reach down to activate the manual override lever located on the bottom of the brake controller. The wiring harness for the 2015 GMC Sierra is located under the left side of the driver's side dash. The attached photo showing what to look for when locating tow wiring harness on the your vehicle.
An advantage of using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller is that it can be mounted within a 360-degree vertical range in your vehicle. Meaning that you could mount the controller, as long as it remains level in the horizontal position, almost anywhere that can be reached and seen by the driver. I attached a picture of this brake controller that we installed on a 2011 GMC Sierra. The brake controller was mounted on the right side of the steering wheel on this application.
You will also need the wiring adapter for the Prodigy P3 to fit your 2015 GMC, part # 3016. This the the plug that attaches to brake controller at one end and wired to the tow wiring on your vehicle.
I also linked a video that shows this controller being installed on a similar vehicle.
