Snow Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2008 Ford Escape And Utah Snow Chain Requirements
Question:
Do tire cables P/N PW1042 meet Utah chain requirements? If not, what due you recommend for a 2008 Ford Escape with P235 70R16 Tires?

The only information we have for the state of Utah is that Snow Chains may be used on a vehicle when required for safety because of snow, ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid. Drivers are advised to carry one set for the drive axle from Nov. 1 to Mar 31.
If there are further snow chain requirements you will need to check with the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles.
There are many types of snow chains available for the factory size 235/70-16 tires on your 2008 Ford Escape, see link. I would recommend self tensioning chains for ease of installation in the wet and cold conditions that you will encounter when snow chains are needed. You will need to install snow chains of the rear tires of your 2008 Escape.
I would recommend one of 3 sets of chains for you depending on your situation. The first recommendation is, the Pewag Brenta-C 4X4 Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains, item # PWXMR79V. These are self-tensioning, alloy steel chains that are super durable, self tensioning and easy to install.
Next, I would recommend the Thule XB-16 Standard Snow Tire Chains, item # TH01571247, which have cam tension adjusters. These snow chains are not quite as easy to adjust but install quickly and are made of durable, hardened manganese nickel alloy steel.
Finally, if cost is a concern, I would recommend the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, item # PW1042, that you mentioned and a set of Glacier Rubber Adjusters for Class S Snow Chains, item # PW100. These chains are not as easy to install or adjust but are a good choice for safety when on the highway in the winter. These chains are not intended for off-road applications.
If you decide to put snow chains on the front tires, not required, you will need to make sure that you use a SAE Class S or smaller chain, like the one you mentioned. Ford does not recommend exceeding 30 MPH with snow chains on your vehicle.
