I found an online owner's manual of your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and it states to use tire chains on the rear tires only. You should confirm this with your owner's manual just to be sure. Tire chains are not recommended on a trailer since there is not drive axle that will need the traction. There could be some advantage with braking but it's going to be minimal and your truck is going to be the one that needs the traction.

A good heavy-duty set of chains for your truck confirmed to fit your LT245/75R16 size tires are the Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains # PWH2821SC. These have V-Bar-style links to improve the grip in snow and even in ice. They also include cam tighteners to make installation and tightening the chains much easier and quicker.
