Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Trailblazer Towing 4,800 lb Camper
Question:
the reese SC system seems to be very similar to the equalizer, except that they put brake pads instead of metal to metal friction to control sway, which seems ? good idea. So it is an equalizer without the scream? Also, one reviewer said the brake pads wore out after one trip. Is that typical? Are the pads replaceable? Would you recommend these over the equalizer to tow a 4800 lb dry wt travel trailer? Im towing with a trailblazer, so controlling the sway properly is importatnt. Thanks.

All weight distribution systems make some noise unfortunately. The Equalizer is pretty loud but from a performance point of view I would prefer it to the Reese SC.
The system I like the best is the Reese Strait Line which uses a dual cam sway control that works to fight sway before it starts. It doesn't screw or shriek but it is known to make some popping noises around corners.
For your 4,800 lb trailer the part # RP66083 would be what I recommend. It has a tongue weight range of 400 - 800 lbs so it would fit your trailer's tongue weight well.
