Question:
I am looking to purchase a block heater for my dodge 2001 Diesel engine, that does not involve ping the oil pan for installation. Does your item # KH30115 work for my truck, and what fluid has to be drained for installation? Thanks,

The Kat's Heaters Custom Diesel Engine Block Heater - Frost Plug - 120V - 750 Watts - 3/4" NPT, # KH30115, is a confirmed fit for your 2001 Dodge Ram 5.9L Diesel. This frost plug heater replaces the frost plug in your engine block and submerges in the coolant to keep engine fluids from thickening. It will result in easier start-ups, less wear and tear on your vehicle in cold weather, and it will help your truck cab to heat faster. This does require draining the cooling system only for installation.
Another option for you is Kat's Heaters Thermostatically Controlled Circulating Tank Heater - 120V - 1,500 Watts, # KH13150. This heater installs inline with the heater hoses for a fairly simple installation and is also a confirmed fit for your vehicle. This will also require draining your cooling system only to install.
These heaters are not to be used with 100% coolant. I suggest using a 50/50 mix of coolant and water for proper operation. Make sure to route cord away from extreme heat or moving mechanical parts.
