To a tow a trailer with your 2014 Toyota Prius C you're going to need a trailer htich. I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24971. This hitch has a 2,000 pound maximum towing weight can requires no drilling to install.
To power your trailer's lights you'll need a wiring harness. The Hopkins Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11141854 will give you a 4-way connector on the rear of the Prius. There's no need to cut any wires, this harness plugs right into your car's wiring which is behind the paneling in the rear cargo area. The installation details are attached as well.
The Draw-Tite Sportframe Drawbar # 3593 will work well with the Class I hitch. This also includes a pin and clip for you. Finally, for a hitch ball, part # 19256 is a 1-7/8 inch ball and part # 19258 is a 2 inch ball.
