205/75-14 Tire and Wheel Recommendation for 4,000 lb Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a boat and trailer package that weighs about #4000. I will normally trailer the boat 200+ miles each way. I currently have 205 75 14 Bias ply and would like to go up to a 205 75R 15 radial tire. I have measured the distance between the tire and fender and should have plenty of clearance. Should I go with a load C or D tire?

If your trailer is single axle you would need a Load Range D like the part # LHAW121 which has a capacity of 2,150 lbs at 65 psi since you have a 4,000 lb trailer. What is also great about the tire on this combo is that it is rated for up to 75 mph unlike other trailer tires that are mostly only rated for 65 mph.

If it's tandem a lower Load Range would be just fine.
