Compatibility of Hopkins 4-Pole to 7-Pole Adapter 37185 with Wiring on 2005 Ford F-150
Question:
Have a 2005 Ford F-150 and want to go from a factory 4 pin to a 7 pin. Saw you have a Hopkins 37185 and a tow ready 30717 as possible choices. Wanting to make sure that those are the ones for the truck. Thanks

The Hopkins 4-Pole to 7-Pole Adapter # 37185 and the similar Tow Ready part # 30717 are not vehicle specific products. Either can be installed on any vehicle that has a 4-pole already in place.
Between the two I recommend the Hopkins since it allows you to have both connector types in place at one time and it includes a mounting bracket. The Tow Ready gives you only the 7-way and no bracket.
Please refer to the linked photo that shows you how to connect the four pigtail leads for ground, reverse lights, 12V power and a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885.
