Solution for Freeing Up Bulldog Lifelong Hitch Lock

Question:

Had this for about 20 months now. Tried to change the hitch today but the lock wont unlock. The cap was on key went in w/o drag and turned 180°. And that was it. The cylinder did not spring forward. I applied WD 40 till it was seeping from the cylinder edge and tapped on the side with a rubber mallet but no progress. Suggestions?

There is some component of the Bulldog Lock part # BD580402 that has seized up. If the lock isn't on a vehicle you would want to let it soak in some gear oil overnight to try and allow it to free itself up.

If it's on a vehicle you would have to continue soaking it with lubricant and trying to work it free. Spray on the latch end of the lock as well to see if you can get it to soak in from the back side.
