Products to Help Prevent Clogs in RV/Trailer Black Water Tanks

Question:

Was winterizing our camper, We had been back from last camping trip about two weeks, I thought I had emptied my tanks before leaving the campground, started blowing out the water lines, got to the toilet when I stepped on the lever I saw I had about 2/3 of a full black tank. I hooked up went to a nearby dump station hooked up the hose, pulled the lever but nothing came out. I then took it to my dealer, who called me about 2 hours later and said we had a clogged pipe. I have always used the stuff in a bottle that you get at camper supply places etc. and Walmart. I dont want this to happen again, so what do you recommend I use to prevent clogs.

It depends on the nature of the clog. If it is the paper you use then I recommend switching to a septic safe rated paper that breaks down easier.

If the clog is organic then regular treatments with a enzyme product such as # CAM40264 will help to prevent it from happening again.

I assume they are fixing the clog and will clean the tank. But if they do not then it is essential to periodically clean the tank. Instead of just using a hose I recommend the swivel stick, # CAM40074, which uses water pressure to spin around the fitting at the end to clean more surface area in the tank.
