Adding a 4- and 6- or 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 1999 Fuso FE
Question:
Im hoping to wire a trailer with shared brake/directional lights to a 1999 Fuso FE SP truck which is individual brake/ tail/ directional. Trailer can have brakes but I am more concerned with will this kit cross over the directional circuit for me so I do not have to add more lights to trailer? Is this something that can be wired to truck circuitry before plug in so I can tow numerous trailers like this, or is this to be wired into trailer circuit after truck plug in ? I do not mind changing my 6 way round plugs to larger round spaded trailer config if that makes it more reliable.

Yes, trailer wiring harness # 119250KIT will take separate brake and turn signals on your 1999 Fuso and combine them to work on the combined system used by the trailer. It installs on the truck side so you can tow any trailer that has a 4-Way flat connector. In order to tow trailers with 7-Way RV style connectors or 6-Way round pin connectors you will need other parts.
The 7-Way RV style (blade pins) is more common now than the 6-pole. If you want the truck to have a 7-Way blade style connector with the option to install a brake controller for electric trailer brakes I recommend # ETBC7.
Alternatively, if you want to add a 6-pole to the truck you can use # ETBC6. For either kit you will still be able to tow trailers with 4-Way flat connectors on them as well. I have included some links that show and explain these types of hardwire installations for you.
For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
