There are three possibilities for your vehicle. If you have a factory 7-Way you will be able to use the Tekonsha PRIMUS IQ Electronic Brake Controller, item # TK90160, and the Tekonsha Wire Replacement for Ford, item # 3035-P, to install the brake controller on your RV. The connector for the brake controller wire harness should be located under the dash to the left of the steering column. You will be looking for a 6-pin connector that mates to the brown connector on the # 3035-P harness.
The second possibility is that your RV has a factory 4-Way connector. If this is the case, you will need to install a 7-Way adapter, item # 37185, at the rear of the vehicle. You will use the same wiring harness, # 3035-P, for the brake controller connection but will need to cut the blue wire coming from the brake controller and run it to the back of the vehicle with 10 gauge wire, item # 10-1-1, and attach this wire to the blue wire exiting the # 37185 adapter.
The third possibility is that you do not have a factory trailer connector on your RV and will need to hardwire the brake controller from scratch. In this case you will need a 4-Way connector to start with, item # 18252, and a Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, item # ETBC7. This kit will include all of the wiring, relays and connectors needed to hard wire the Primus controller.
We have detailed instructions for Brake Controller Installation from Scratch, see link, to guide you through the installation if hard wiring is needed. The 4-Way installation will require locating the brake, turn, and tail light signals behind the RV tail lights. The yellow wire will be attached to the left turn and brake circuit, the green wire to the right turn and brake circuit and the white wire should be attached to a good ground point on the vehicle frame.
