Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Towing 7,000 lb Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am looking for Wt Dist hitch recommendations. I have a 24 Ft TT with 7K TGW, pulling behind a Toyota Tundra. What do you recommend for a brand with that setup. I am looking for one with good sway control and one that is fairly quiet too reading some the complaints online.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If your trailer is going to weigh 7k lbs your tongue weight is most likely going to be between 700 and 1,050 lbs. For a WD system with sway control for that I would recommend the Strait Line system part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs and features the only sway control that tries to stop sway before it starts. Every system is going to make a bit of noise just due to the nature of how they work, but this one won't be too bad under normal circumstances.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
