Adding 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller to Existing 4-Way Connector on a 2012 Kia Sorento
Question:
I have a 2012 Kia Sorento that already has a towing 4 pole wire harness installed not by factory. I need to have a 7 flat pole for towing a camper. The harness I now have connects to my battery. Can a 4 to 7 adapter be added without more wiring, or can I get a full 7 pole wire harness for this SUV? I want to use all 3 wires. If not, what will I need. Also, I have a brake controller I need to add in. What do I need for that? Thanks!

To add a 7-Way and Brake controller to your 2012 Kia Sorento, you will need our Universal 4-Way and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit includes the adapter from the 4-way and includes all the wiring, circuit breakers, and hardware to install your brake controller.
This kit will give you the options of 7-way and 4-way connections. It will also give you everything you need to connect your brake controller to a 7-way connecter. The kit includes the mounting bracket, the necessary length of appropriate wire, and all the important parts from the 3 circuit breakers to the ring terminals and quick-splice wiring connectors.
Unfortunately there is no way to avoid more wiring for a 7-way connector on your Sorento even if there was a factory tow package. You will need all these parts, so this kit is the most convenient and cost effective way to do so. I've included a video that will take you step by step through the installation of this kit to your brake controller.
