Recommended 2-Inch Hitch and 4-Bike Hitch Rack for 2008 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hi, I have a 2008 Honda pilot without a hitch, and was wondering if you could recommend a hitch that I could install for use to up to 4 bikes. I have 2 adult bikes and 2 kid bikes both currently 16inch bikes. What bike rack would you recommend to go with that hitch as well? Thank you.

For transporting a family's worth of bikes you can equip your 2008 Honda Pilot with a 2-inch Class III hitch from Draw-Tite, part # 75599. As shown in the linked installation video, this hitch requires no drilling and it will not interfere with your spare tire.

The bike rack type I suggest is a swing-away model that will allow you to keep full access to the Pilot's rear cargo area (where all those bike helmets are stowed!). Racks like the 4-bike Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 allow you to swing the loaded rack over to the car's passenger side for full access to your rear cargo area. A review video for this rack is linked for you.

I suggest the Yakima since it includes locks for both the rack itself and for your loaded bikes, provides more clearance at the back of the vehicle and since it costs less than some other options. It carries a limited lifetime warranty too.
