Does the Battery Charger in My Truck Camper Shut Down When Fully Charged and What to Do if Not

Question:

I dont know if you can help me or not, but I was wondering if it is possible to over charge a battery on my camper if I left it hooked up to a power source at my home all the time or does it usually stop charging through the converter unit in my camper once it is fully charged.I keep my camper in a garage and hooked up to my house power. I dont want to burn the battery up, and if there is something I should use to protect it from happening. Thank you for any help you can give. .

I will be glad to try to help. I am guessing here, but I believe what you are saying is that your truck camper has a battery charger that functions when you are connected to shore, household, power. If this is the case, you should contact the camper manufacturer to find out if the charger has a system for checking the battery charge level and shutting down when the battery is fully charged. I imagine the charger in the trailer is set up this way. If the manufacturer cannot provide this information or the charger does not shut down when the battery is fully charged, we have a solution that will keep your battery charged and allow you to use the electrical accessories in your trailer while it is stored.

The CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger w/ Pulse Maintenance and Backup Power, ITEM # CTEK56353, is a smart charger that Switches automatically to pulse-maintenance phase when your battery reaches full charge. This charger also includes 2 battery-cable attachment systems w/ Comfort Connect end plugs, so the charger plugs right in when ready to charge and easily disconnects when ready to travel.

This charger also has a backup power system that can be used on your trailer if the battery is not connected for some reason. You can connect the trailer cables directly to the charger and switch it to backup power to run the trailer accessories.
