Recommended Low Profile Cargo Carrier to Allow Access to Rear Door on 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
2016 jeep wrangler unlimited tow package w/2inch hitch. is there an optional configuration to add to a cargo carrier like the pro series 24x60 # 63153 that allows us to open the door fully while the carrier is attached. or do you have a work around if this is not an option thank you

For a more low profile cargo carrier the Curt Carrier, part # C18100, 19x60 is a good option because it has a straight shank. The Pro Series Cargo Carrier # 63153 has a 2-1/2 inch rise and therefore will be more likely to block the rear door of your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Another option is the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110. This one also a straight shank giving you clearance to open the rear door. I've attached a video of the Curt on a 2016 Wrangler Unlimited so you can see that it will open until the tire makes contact with the side wall of the carrier. Still with plenty of space to get into the Jeep. The carrier is smaller, 20 x 48 inches and rated for 300 lbs. while the Pro Series is rated for 500 lbs.
Of course, any cargo carrier is likely to prevent the door from opening when loaded. As will an oversized spare tire on the back of the Wrangler.
