Can a Bumper Mount Bike rack be Used While Flat Towing a Chevy Spark Behind an RV

Question:

I have a coachman freelander 2017 and tow a Chevy Spark 2017 o a blue ox system. I would like to mount two bikes on a rack on the back of the RV for instance a bumper mount system would this interfere with the turning radius. What would you suggest. Thanks

Expert Reply:

Having anything between the RV and the Chevy Spark has the potential to decrease the turning radius. It all depends on how much space there is to begin with as well as the bumper height versus the height at the front of the vehicle (if the bikes were up high enough the front of the car could do under the bikes during turns).

We have a bumper-mount bike rack that is rated for use on the back of an RV and it is # S80501. This rack will measure approximately 26 inches from the RV bumper to the end of the rack and the distance from the bottom of the bumper to the top of the rack arms is approximately 30 inches. Using these measurements you should be able to determine if this set up will allow you to make tight enough turns when flat towing the Spark.
