Recommended Tire Chains for 2016 Ram 3500 SRW with LT275/70R18 Sized Tires
Question:
I have a 2016 Ram 3500 TD SRW 4x4 LT275/70R18. I live in Alabama and we only see enough winter weather to chain up once every couple of years. Problem is we have a lot of ice and freezing rain when we do get it maybe a few inches of snow too. I will also occasionally travel in colder climates. Im thinking V-bars, you? Also, the owners manual says I can only chain the rear wheels and I can use Class U. Too bad I couldnt throw some class S up front while in 4wd. Anyway, any advice you have would be great.

Since ice is a concern then the V-Bar Chains # TC3829 will be the best choice. You are correct the V-bars links of this chain do an excellent job crushing ice to provide great traction.
When using chains like this it is highly recommended to use a set of rubber adjusters to keep the chain secured to the tire. I really like the Multi-Arm # PW103 design because if one arm were to fail the others would keep the chain secure unlike the competitors single rubber band with multiple hooks.
I checked and you are correct your owner's manual indicates that you can only put chains on the rear set of tires, but I think you will be satisfied with the traction you receive with these V-bar chains. Ideally you would want to put snow chains on all axles of a vehicle since this will give you the best possible traction. The only reason to not use chains on all axles would be if the owners manual says chains are only allowed on one axle.
I have linked the above mentioned product to this page for your purchasing convenience.
