Can a Load Range D Tire be Used on One Side of the Trailer and a Load Range E Tire on the Other
Question:
Is it advisable to use two ST225 75/ R load range D on 1 side of my 5th wheel trailer and the same size tires with load range E on the other side? The trailer has tandem axles.

The best thing to do is to use the same size, type, and load range tire for all the axles. The reason is that the two different load ranges have differing internal construction and it could cause the trailer to track (follow the tow vehicle) differently. Also the different load ranges have different psi ratings and between the two sizes, it can lead to reduced wear on one side disproportional to the other side. I recommend following the tire specifications indicated by the trailer manufacturer if available for the best size and load range to use.
