Can Prodigy RF Brake Controller Be Installed On A 2007 Dodge 3500 Instead Of A Trailer

Question:

I have a 2007 Dodge 3500 4x4 will the Tekonsha Brake Controller - TK94FR work if the unit is installed on the truck rather than on the trailer, so as to be able tow different trailers as opposed to one trailer with many trucks Thanks for your help

The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller, # TK94FR, can be installed on your 2007 Dodge 3500 4x4. It will require that you have a 7-way connector on your vehicle for the brake controller to plug into.

The Prodigy RF brake controller is designed for use on one trailer that will be towed by different vehicles, like fleet owners with multiple towing vehicles. If you want to use it on your truck for towing multiple trailers it would be the same as installing a brake controller in the cab of your vehicle. I am sending a link to the instructions on the Prodigy RF brake controller.

If you towed trailers with different connectors (4-way, 5-way, and 6-way) you will need to use adapters in your 7-way when using either the Prodigy RF controller or a brake controller in your cab.

On your 2007 Dodge 3500 4x4, if you have a factory 7-way connector you can use the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885 and wiring harness # 3020-P. This brake controller will come with a plug and play wiring harness that will plug into the back of the brake controller and the other end will plug into the factory brake controller plug located under the dash just to the right of the emergency brake pedal. No other wiring is needed. I am sending a link to the instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.

If your vehicle came with a factory 4-flat connector or no trailer connector you will need to install a 7-way to the rear of your vehicle by using the, # ETBC7 installation kit and hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle. I am sending a link to how to wire the brake controller to your vehicle with the # ETBC7 kit.

If you are needing a 4-way on your vehicle I would recommend the Draw-Tite Wiring, # 119178KIT. This will need to be installed first before installing the # ETBC7 installation kit.
