Recommended Kayak Carrier for Two 12-Foot Kayaks with Rhino-Rack Aero Bars
Question:
I have the Rhino Aero Bar roof rack and am looking at a stacker to carry 2 kayaks. I believe the Thule Stacker will work, and the reviews are great - BUT, it says its not for kayaks over 10 feet. Both of mine are 12 feet and I do not see a stacker that accommodates them. Am I missing it? The reviews sounded as though the length was not even a question so Im a bit confused... Need to haul 2 12 footers..

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Thule and she told me that you can only use the Thule Stacker # TH830 with polyethylene kayaks that are less than 10 feet in length. Anything else can potentially damage the kayak since it basically will be resting right on the crossbars of the roof rack.
For longer kayaks you want the Yakima JayLow, part # Y04073. You need a second set of tie downs for a second kayak with part # Y04031.
