Highest Gooseneck Towing Capacity for a 2016 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Question:

I am getting ready to purchase a 1 ton, 3500 series dually. However, I am getting conflicting information from dealer sales reps on gooseneck rating. I will be pulling a 30,000 GVWR gooseneck. Simple math I Thought. Trailer weight 10,200lbs-30,000lbs GVWR=19,800 lbs for cargo. F350 states 26,000lbs on gooseneck towing. F450 states 31,200 lbs on gooseneck towing. Sales Rep tells me the 3500 will be enough truck. Just need to make sure from the Professional on the right Truck to purchase. 2016 F350 or 2016 F 450. Thanks

According to Ford's towing guide to reach the maximum towing capacity of 31,200 pounds for a gooseneck trailer you would have to get an F-450 dually 4x4 crew cab. This truck can be equipped with the Ford factory gooseneck hitch if you so desire. But you don't have to purchase the ball at the dealer. Instead you can save some money and go with # C60692.
