What Causes Curt Factory Ford Pop-In Hitch Ball To Get Stuck
Question:
Purchased 2/2017. Ball worked fine as long as I removed it after every use. I left it installed in the truck for a month or so and found I could not remove the ball. Been stuck for 2 to 3 months. Any recommendations on how to get it to release.

The issue you are having with the gooseneck hitch ball getting stuck in the trailer hitch after sitting is pretty common, especially with the factory pop-in hitch balls that have the latch in the top like the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit part # C60692. The reason for this is because you can't get much leverage/force to remove it due to the latching mechanism.
In regards to removal, the basics like tapping it with a hammer to free the rust/dirt, applying lubrication, and applying heat are the go to and there's not much else besides elbow grease. I really must recommend you take the hitch ball out each time after use but if you are going to leave it in the truck bed then go with the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit part # BWGNXA2061 which has a larger handle that you can really get some leverage on. As always, pre-greasing will be your friend for removal.
