What Front Hitch Can Be Installed Through The Front Fascia On A 2001 Chevy Suburban
Question:
I bought a used 2001 4WD Chevy Suburban that it appears a previous owner had installed a front mounted receiver hitch on, and later removed. There is a square hole in the middle of the front fascia. My question is, what hitch part number is appropriate for installation on this vehicle? I dont want to order the wrong hitch i.e. 2WD only.

Expert Reply:
For your 2001 Chevy Suburban the 4WD or the 2WD will not matter for the front hitch. The choice for your vehicle will be if it is the 1500 series or the 2500 series Suburban.
If you have the 2001 Chevy Suburban 1500, the Curt Front Hitch, # 31302 will fit. Since you said your fascia has a square hole cut into the middle of it, the Curt Hitch, # 31302 world work great for you. The installation instructions on the Curt hitch says that it can be installed as a through bumper installation by reversing the cross member which would require a 3-inch square hole to be cut into the fascia.
The two hitches available for the 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500 are the Draw-Tite Front Hitch, # 65028, and the Curt Front Hitch, # 31108. Neither one of these hitches allow for a through the bumper installation.
I am sending you links on the installation instructions on all four hitches.
