Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2010 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 6.2L V8

Question:

Hello Im towing a 40 ft. 5th wheel RV with a 2010 GMC Sierra 2500HD and it tows great except on warmer days 80 to 100 degrees when going up long hills the transmission temp is going up to 200 to 210 which is on the overheating side. Once I get to the top of the hill the temp goes back down to 180 to 185. Im being told a larger that factory installed cooler is the best way to fix this. Can you make a suggestion that would give me good cooing. Id like to keep the new cooler where the current one is which is right behind the front grill. Thanks.

Transmission coolers are not vehicle-specific so you can install the largest and most-efficient unit that you have room to mount in front of the truck's A/C condenser. This is the preferred installation point since it will deliver the most air flow.

The recommended Class III cooler for your 2010 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 6.2L V8 is the Derale # D13503 along with Hose Fitting # D13035. This unit measures 11 x 8-3/4 x 7/8-inches deep. An install video is linked for you showing this unit installed in a Suburban. If you want more cooling power you could use a Class IV cooler like the Derale # D13504 which is a higher-efficiency plate-fin type.

All coolers for the truck are shown on the linked page.
