Why Would Fifth Wheel Trailer Brakes Lock Up Until Trailer Battery is Disconnected
Question:
We have a Durango 5 th wheel. Today we were bringing it home and the breaks locked up. We unplugged the main electric cord from the truck and drove without lights on the trailer the breaks continued to be locked up. Then we stopped took the cables off of the rv battery and as soon as we did we heard the magnets on the breaks let loose. Could you tell us what may be wrong?

Sounds like your trailer has a breakaway system on that had the plunger pulled and now the brakes want to lock up as long as it is connected to a battery.
Check out the help articles I attached on breakaway systems. They will help you identify where yours is at and help you test it.
The switch would look like the part # 3802348. Which if your plunger was pulled and was missing this would work well as a replacement to allow you to get your trailer going again.
