How to Determine Which Replacement Brake Assemblies for Jayco Jayflight 22FB Travel Trailer

Question:

Would like ask for some assistance please. 2010 - Jayco Jay flight 22FB dual axle Seems like 3500Lb axles with 10inch brake assemblies and has 15inch wheels. How can I confirm or measure the wheel bolt size / pattern? 4 bolt for the assembly to frame / spindle, 5 bolt wheel pattern. 1 wheel is open, has self adjusting assembly yet at least 1 wheel is sticking / squelling. The one open set, both assembly and drum seems in decent condition yet has a slightly raised edge in the middle of the back wall in the drum where the magnet would grab when activated. 1 shoe is slighly sticking on the top end. Your suggestions and if possible a diagram on how to measure everything would be much appreciated. Think we can do this ourselves if I get a full assembly, likely for all 4 wheels rather then the dealer asking for my first born or an arm and a leg : Thank you in advance

I've linked you to an FAQ article that explains how to determine your wheel bolt pattern. The 4 bolt brake mounting flange has a standard bolt pattern of 2-7/8 inches center to center between adjacent holes or 4 inches center to center measured diagonally. To determine which replacement brake assembly is needed, you'd need to know the inside diameter and depth of your brake drum then choose a replacement assembly with identical dimensions.

When you replace brake assemblies, you'll want to be sure that the armature surface of the brake drum (the surface that the face of the magnet rides against) is smooth with no grooves or gouges or the magnet on the new assembly will get chewed up. If the drum needs to be replaced, you'll need to pick a drum with the same inside diameter and depth that uses the same wheel bearings and wheel bolt pattern of your current hub/drum.

If you're getting squealing, you've possibly got a brake pad that's worn down to metal or something that's broken and is causing the pad to grab.

A 3500 lb capacity axle would typically use a 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake drum with the standard brake assembly mounting bolt pattern, so you'd want to use a brake assembly of the same size. I'd recommend a self-adjusting brake assembly like # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right.

I'm not sure what you mean you say that one wheel is open, but hopefully I've provided you with enough information to replace your brake assembly.
