Which Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Do you Recommend for a 2016 Hyundai Tucson
Question:
Why do you recommend the 2 inch over the 1 1/4 inch curt hitch for a 2016 Tucson?

The Curt Class II # C12241 and Curt Class III # C13240 are both rated for the same trailer weight and tongue weight so that will not be a concern and both are compatible with your 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The reason I recommend a Class III 2 inch hitch receiver is there are more products that are compatible with them. So if you are going to be adding a ball mount or some other accessory with it, either now or later down the road, you will have more options available to you.
I have attached a Help Article on choosing the right trailer hitch class that might help you decide.
Keep in mind with a Curt trailer hitch if you are hauling anything other than a trailer, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, you will need a Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 or it will void your warranty with Curt. I've included a video review for you to see.
If you would rather avoid the need of the support strap your next option would be the Draw-Tite Class III # 75836.
