Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring Adapter for 2008 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson Edition
Question:
I have a 2008 Harley edition F-150. I need to get a electronic trailer brake controller and not sure what all i need to purchase. Maybe an idea of what is the best one to get as well. I do not tow often. But i am renting a travel trailer and it is required. Advise and help is greatly appreciated. Best regards,

Good news, I can help equip your 2008 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson Edition with a brake controller and wiring adapter.
First for a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P3 # 90195, because of its easy user interface. The P3 is a proportional brake controller which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. The Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is like the P3's little brother, it has all the great qualities but doesn't have the display of the P3. The Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is the best selling controller on the market because of how easy it is to setup and use, and how well it works.
The wiring adapter for your brake controller port on your 2008 Ford F-150 for the recommended Tekonsha brake controllers and the Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN # TK63VR you were looking at, is the # 3035-P. This port will be in the cab of your vehicle just under the dash towards the center console. If you have the factory 7-way already on your vehicle these are the only two items you will need to install the brake controller
We also have an entire Help Article on how to wire up your vehicle if it didn't come with the factory 7-way, that I have attached to this page for you to see. If your vehicle instead came with the factory 4-way you will also need the # 37185 to complete your wiring connections for the 7-way connector. I have also linked a video on a similar F-150 which has the factory 4-way installed for you to check out.
I have linked the above mentioned parts to this page for your purchasing convenience.
