Trailer Hitch for a 2010 Carriage Cameo 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

Dear sirs, I have a 2010 37 ft. Carriage Cameo 5th wheel. We are debating the feasibility of adding a hitch to pull a utility trailer approx. 1400 lb weight with a 900 lb motorcycle on it. Do you know how to find out if the undercarriage of this unit will support this weight and if so, what hitch would be recommended? Carriage as you know went out of business in 2012 so we cant contact for specs on this unit. We would appreciate your feedback.

What you can do is check the literature, manuals, flyers, that came with the 5th wheel trailer to determine if there is any capacity information in terms of installing a trailer hitch. If the information is not there then a local RV dealer with a service center can probably look at the trailer to determine if it can take a hitch.

If it can then Curt hitch # 13703 is the most likely to fit since it is the most versatile. I have linked the instructions and a video showing just one of the ways this hitch can be installed.

Also, you will want to check the laws in your state and in any state you will be traveling because tandem towing is illegal in some places.
