Over Under Suspension Kit Recommendation for Trailer with 2-3/8 inch Axle

Question:

I have a Wesco boat trailer, 17 ft. boat with 90 hp. Please see picture... axle and springs are not original. Axle is 2 3/8 dia. and measures approx. 85 in. from inside hub to inside hub. GVWR sticker on trailer stamped 2000 lbs. Issues I have: 1. Need more clearance between fender and tire. tires need replacing and are cupped Do you offer a conversion kit that will work with this spring/axle arrangement single eye to raise trailer before tire replacement?

Expert Reply:

Since your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00 to move your axle to the other side of your leaf spring and get additional ground clearance.

These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.

When you have cupping wear on a tire it is from the tire bouncing on the road. You will want to check the air pressure in the tire and make sure you are running the maximum air pressure that is indicated on the tire.
