Installation of Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller on a 2011 Dodge Durango w/Aftermarket 7-Way Wiring
Question:
I am in interested in the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller for my 2011 Dodge Durango. I have a dealer installed hitch and 7-pin harness that were installed post purchase. I noticed a blue wire coming from the wiring harness tied up in my engine compartment. It is disconnected at this time. If I purchase the controller with the wiring adapter #3045 P do I need to worry about the disconnected blue wire? Thank you in advance.

I can help you wire up your vehicle for the Prodigy P3 # 90195 Brake Controller.
It sounds like your 7-pin wasn't factory installed which would mean that you need to finish running the connections where the blue wire ended. In this case you will not be able to use the # TK93VR. Instead you will need the # 5506 kit.
It is possible that these connections may have already been made for you since the blue wire has been run to the engine compartment, see the attached image of how the 7-way connector is wired to the vehicle for a brake controller. I have linked a video of the # 5506 kit, which is the wiring portion of the # ETBC7 kit being installed on a similar vehicle, for you to better see. Our installer shows where the circuit breakers are mounted, run to the battery, and then run into the vehicle cab.
The P3 # 90195 will include a universal wiring harness that will plug into the unit and have blunt cut end wires, these will be connected to the wires after run into the vehicle's cab; this is also show in the video I attached for you to check out.
I have linked all the above mentioned parts to this page for your convenience.
