Is Weight Distribution Needed On A 2003 Chevy 3500 Towing A 7,500 Lbs. Wildwood Trailer
Question:
Do I need a Wt Dist. hitch for a 2003 Chevy 3500, dually towing a 7500 lb max Wildwood trailer? If so, what would you recommend?

Weight distribution systems should be used anytime the trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the vehicles weight. So I would recommend a weight distribution system for your 2003 Chevy 3500 Dually towing a 7500 lb. trailer.
In addition to eliminating the squat experienced when the trailer is attached, a weight distribution system can lead to performance increases in steering, traction, and braking while also decreasing trailer sway.
Weight distribution systems are rated by the tongue weight of the loaded trailer. The tongue weight on your 7,500 lbs. trailer would be 750 lbs. I would recommend the Reese Weight Distribution, # RP66542, that you referenced. This system is rated for tongue weights between 600 lbs. to 1200 lbs. and gross towing weight of 12,000 lbs.
It has the serrated washer system to easily adjust the tilt of the weight distribution head. It also has the trunnion style spring bars which have the hooked ends that will allow you to add on the dual-cam sway control.
The Reese Dual Cam High-Performance Sway Control, # RP26002, is a feature that can be added to this weight distribution system. It will stop sway before the sway actually starts.
If you want to get the weight distribution system with the dual-cam sway control all together you can get the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, # RP66084. This will be the weight distribution system with the dual cam sway control and it includes the adjustable shank for your hitch.
The Curt 2 Inch Hitch Ball, # A-90, is the only other thing you will need.
I am sending a link to information on weight distribution systems. Also, I am sending video links of a weight distribution system being installed on a Dodge Ram. The vehicle is different but it is still the same principle.
