Operation and Compatibility of Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch with Air Lift Rear Air Bag Kit

Hi, Does this hitch auto slide in reverse as well? Also, can airlift bags be mounted when using the underbed mounting bracket set up? Thank You.

The rack-and-pinion slider mechanism in the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550022 does work in both forward and reverse directions. Once the pin box causes the hitch head to turn past about 15-degrees the autoslide mechanism engages and slides the head unit rearward for better turning clearance.

In your 2016 Ford F-250 short bed without factory rail kit you can use Demco installation kit # DM8551000 and for a wiring harness part # DM8555002 which plugs right in at your exiting 7-way.

This hitch installation kit is compatible with Air Lift rear axle air bag kit # AL88396 which fits the 4WD truck. There is no 2WD Air Lift kit that works with the Demco hitch but Firestone offers part # F2550 for 2WD gassers, which works with a 5th wheel hitch installed.
