What Do I Need to Install a Brake Controller On My 2004 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hello, I have been using 4-pin socket for utility trailers, but now I have a small travel trailer with electric brakes. I already have a 4 to 7 pin adapter but I want to use the trailer brakes. What would you recommend? Do you have 7-pin wiring info? Thanks

To be able to use the electric brakes on your small travel trailer you are going to need a few products. First, you are going to need a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195. Many of our customers find this controller easy to use and simple to install. Also there are programmable pre-sets and easy to understand diagnostics so you do not have to look up trouble codes.
You will use your 4 to 7 pin adapter to connect the 4-pole wiring harness to your trailer. If your 4 to 7 pin adapter has the extra wires for the brakes, 12V power, ground and reverse, then you will just need the brake controller wiring kit # 5506. If your adapter does not have the extra leads, then you will want the etrailer Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers # ETBC7 which includes everything you need to install an electric trailer brake controller and 7 way connector.
I have attached review videos for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, and an install video of the Universal Wiring Kit for Brake Controllers on a 2008 Honda Odyssey, which is similar for your vehicle. Also, I attached a help article detailing how to install a brake controller with a 4 to 7 pin adapter.
