Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch For Use With B&W Turnover Ball Hitch On 2008 Dodge Ram

Question:

I used to have the Husky 16k slider 5th wheel hitch in my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 short bed. I recently put the BandW turn over ball hitch in. Will the offset 5th wheel adapter that you guys sale work in my pick up. What I mean is. Will I still get the tighter turns. Like I used to get with the husky hitch slid back all the way. To make those tighter turns in some of the camp grounds we go into. Wish you guys had some videos of people actually using the adapter in the different model trucks. Thanks for your time

Using an adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter, part # CAB-C5GX1216 will give you a little additional clearance but you will not be able to execute 90 degree turns as you did with your Husky slider. The adapter does not move the pivot point for the trailer so the additional turning clearance is minimal at best.We do have a solution for you.

You can use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider, part # BWRVK3400-5W. This drops into the gooseneck ball hole on your Turnover hitch. The slider will move 12 inches front to rear which will allow you to be able to execute those tight turns you had with your Husky slider.

The videos would be a great idea but most of the customers we install hitches for just drop off the truck and they are either buying a trailer later or they will drive the truck after the hitch is installed to pick up the trailer. The trailer is typically not here when the hitch is installed.
