Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Camry Sedan
Question:
Hello. My wife and I are looking at getting a roof rack and kayak carrier for our 2012 Camry 4-door with no existing rails. Looking on your website I see that the RRRS346B kit has a capacity of 130 lb. What would be the best option for a 2 kayak holder? The kayaks weight 65 lb and 46 lb, which is 111 lb, so there would only be 19 lb left before exceeding the rack capacity. Do you know off hand how much those parts weigh? I initially was looking at the Rhino Rack RS512 combined with a RS512X, but I am not sure how heavy those would be. I was also looking at the Inno INA450 and the Yakima Bigstack Y04041 kayak carriers. The Yakima is listed as 7.8 lb, but do you know how much the Inno would weigh? Would any of those three kayak holders work or is there another one that would work better for this situation?

Expert Reply:
The Rhino Rack roof rack part # RR42MR is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Toyota Camry 4-door and weighs a total of 14 lbs.
The part # S512 weighs 14 lbs and the part # RRS512X weighs a total of 8 lbs. That would put you well within the 165 lb capacity of the # RR42MR.
Also you need to be sure to stay under the roof capacity for your vehicle listed in the owners manual.
