How To Install A Prodigy P3 Brake Controller On A 2004 Dodge Sprinter Van

Hi! I have a 2004 Dodge Sprinter Van, and I wanna purchase the Tekonsha P3 and also the wiring kit required for the installation., I can not seem to find information how to install on an 2004. Is there a harness kit to make things easy. Do you guys send instructions how to install in this type of vehicle? How do I know if the van has a tow package already? Thanks

On the 2004 Dodge Sprinter Van if you have a factory tow package there will be a 7-way trailer connector on the rear of your vehicle that would be installed from the factory. If you have a 7-way at the rear you will want to make sure it is a factory installed 7-way and not an aftermarket installed connector.

Also, with the factory tow package there will be a brake controller port located under the drivers seat. It will be a wiring harness with a green connector on it. The harness should have 4 wires, a red and yellow wire, a brown wire, a black wire with a blue stripe, and a black wire with a brown stripe.

A wiring adapter is not available to attach to the connector, you can cut the connector off and wire up the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195, as follows. Attach the red wire on the controller to the black wire with the brown stripe on the wiring harness. The black wire on the controller would attach to the red/yellow wire on the harness. Attach the blue brake controller wire to the black wire with the blue stripe on the harness, and the white controller wire attaches to the brown wire on the harness.

If you do not have the factory tow package you will need the Wiring Harness, # C59236, and the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This will allow you to hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle.

The wiring harness, # C59236, will give you a flat 4-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle. This flat 4-way will plug into an adapter in the # ETBC7 kit and give you a 7-way and a 4-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle and the remaining wires to be hardwired.
