Curt Class III trailer hitch # 13251 for the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee is rated for use with weight distribution. When used with weight distribution the gross trailer weight capacity is 5,500 pounds and the tongue weight capacity is 550 pounds. You would need to stay within that limit or within the capacity of the vehicle, whichever is lower.
You can use a weight distribution system that is rated for 600 pounds tongue weight such as # FA94-00-0600 or # FA92-00-0600 but will be limited to the 550 pounds tongue weight of the hitch or the capacity of the vehicle, whichever is lower.
Either of these weight distribution systems will need a ball, # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16 inch, but come with everything else. I have included some helpful links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
