Recommended 2-Inch Hitch and Wiring for 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
Looking for a Class III hitch/receiver and 7 pin wiring kit for my 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited. can you please recommend the right products? I see things with a 4 pin in it and that doesnt make sense to me...thanks! My jeep currently has no wiring or hitch installed...starting from scratch!

For a Class III hitch I suggest the Curt # 13432. This will install on your Wrangler Unlimited as long as it is not one of the Limited Edition or Special Edition models. No drilling is needed. Temporary lowering of the exhaust for easier access to the mounting points and removal of tow hooks, if they are present, are required.
The entire installation process is shown in the linked video; this shows your same year and model Jeep.
For wiring, you'll start with a 4-pole harness, part # C55124, and then use our kit # ETBC7 to adapt that to the 7-way RV-style trailer socket. The kit includes all the parts needed to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way and to wire in a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. That entire process is shown in the other linked video.
In addition to the hitch and wiring you'll also need a ball mount and a hitch ball. Jeeps often benefit from an extra-long ball mount (due to the wide rear-mounted spare tire) like # C45270. This and all other ball mounts are shown on the linked page. I also linked an article that explains how to choose a ball mount with the correct amount of rise or drop to keep the trailer level when hitched. Choose a hitch ball to match the size of your trailer coupler and with the correct 1-inch shank diameter for the ball mount. For the ball mount noted above you can use a ball like 2-inch # 63845.
