How Does the Camco RV and Marine Disposable Water Filter Store When Not In Use

After I go camping and use my Camco in-line between water source and my RV filter does this filter need to be sanitized if left in my RV for several weeks at a time before I use it again? Do I need to run clorox through the filter and if so how much. It just seems to me the filter is still wet inside creating bacteria.?

I checked with Camco and they suggest storing the part # CAM40043 in a plastic bag and then place it in the refrigerator. Running bleach through the filter will ruin it according to them.
