Why is Curt 2-inch Class III Hitch C13195 for 2016 Kia Sorento Not Rated for Weight Distribution
Question:
Hello, I have a 2016 Kia Sorento v6 with tow package. I am looking at getting the Curt hitch 13195, it does not have weight distro ratings. Does this mean it cannot be used with a WD hitch at all, or it just does not increase the weight capacity of the hitch when in use? I just want to use one for helping with sway, my trailer only weights 2700lbs.

You are correct that the Curt 2-inch Class III hitch # C13195, and the other similar hitches offered for your 2016 Kia Sorento V6 with tow package, cannot be used with weight distribution systems.
This relates not to the hitches themselves but to the strength of the vehicle's frame structure. This is enough to meet the hitches' base rating of 5000-lbs towing weight, but it is not strong enough to allow for a higher weight distribution rating.
You can add sway control independent of weight distribution by installing a friction type sway control unit like # 83660.
Kia indicates that you should not tow for first 1200 miles to allow for proper engine break-in.
