Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2010 Ford Ranger

Question:

I am looking at a setup for a 2010 Ford Ranger. If I have power assist brakes what do I need to make it work properly, or does that not matter? I am looking at the RM9100. I plan to build a bracket to mount under the seat to connect to. What extra kits will I need with this? I have an auto trans and will be building a driveshaft disconnect for the truck. Do I have to add a light bar to the rear? Thanks

For supplemental braking for your 2010 Ford Ranger with a tow vehicle with power assist hydraulic brakes you would want the part # RM-9060 which has been confirmed as a fit by Roadmaster. The recommended seat adapter is part # RM-88151 so that you wouldn't have to make your own adapter.

For a magnetic set of lights to attach to the rear of your Ranger you could use the Hopkins part # C6304.

You will also need a base plate kit, tow bar and safety cables. For a base plate you would want the part # 477-1 unless you have a XL or XLT and then you would need the part # 477-5.

The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
