Difference Between Fastway e2 And Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System

Question:

I am looking at the Fastway WDH for my 2010 Ridgeline and a Passport 165RB Dry Weight 3,200, hitch weight 350. Is this the correct product? How does it compare to the Equalizer WDH, or the Reese, which are similar but more money? Thanks, Andy

When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important thing to know is the total tongue weight. That is the tongue weight of the trailer when it is fully loaded and ready to tow added to the weight of any cargo placed behind the rear axle.

To compare the Fastway system like part # FA92-00-0800 to the Equal-I-zer part # EQ37100ET, I would go with the Equal-i-zer. They both have trunnion spring bars and can handle similar weight but the Equal-I-zer has a 4-point sway control system. The # FA92-00-0800 system features a 2-point sway control. Both systems include an adjustable shank but the hitch ball is sold separately. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball I recommend part # EQ91-00-6100 and for a 2 inch ball I recommend part # EQ91-00-6080.

Per the owner's manual for the 2010 Ridgeline, Honda says weight distribution is not recommended. This is on page 297 of the owner's manual. I cannot recommend a weight distribution system for your vehicle.

If it is the ride you are concerned about, I recommend a coil spring suspension enhancement like part # CSS-1168R for your Ridgeline.
