Expert Reply:
The Reese 5th wheel hitch, part # RP30047, weighs about 92 lbs and the custom installation kit, part # RP56001-53 weighs about 75 lbs, so combined they weigh about 167 lbs.
Per the owner's manual the Gross Combined Weight Rating(GCWR) For your 2500 is 21,100-lbs. The best way to calculate what size 5th wheel trailer to get would be to take the weight of your truck, passengers, toolboxes, and any cargo, and then subtract that total from the GCWR.
The Reese # RP30047 does have a towing weight capacity of 16,000 lbs and features a 2-jaw system that gives you more king pin contact to help reduce jarring and chucking. With the custom installation kit, you can cut the installation time in half when compared to the universal installation kits.
