Is Slider 5th Wheel Hitch Needed for 2014 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4-Foot Bed

Question:

I have Reese rails in my truck. Do I really need a slider hitch or would an offset goose neck adapter work as well? I have a 6-foot 9-inch bed.

A sliding 5th wheel hitch is required for your 2014 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4-foot bed in order for you to have enough cab-to-trailer clearance for making tight turns. Adapters with offset do not change the pivot point so they will not give you more turning clearance.

If you need a sliding 5th wheel hitch for your existing base rails you can use the # C95DR for a cost-effective option. Or for a more advanced hitch Demco's 18K hitch # DM8550034 offers 14-inches of slider travel for even more turning clearance. For a wiring harness you can use # 50-97-410.

If you need a gooseneck adapter to use with your 5th wheel rails you can use the Curt 25k Adapter item # 16055 that provides 3-inches of offset.
