Is a Transmission Cooler and a Power Steering Cooler Required to Tow with a 2003 Honda Pilot

Question:

I plan to tow a small trailer 3000lbs on a road trip 10+ hours. Do I need to install both a transmission cooler and Power Steering cooler...or can I just install the transmission cooler and be OK??

A transmission cooler is a good idea when you are towing with your 2003 Honda Pilot. A power steering cooler would help extend the life of the power steering pump, but it is not a necessity when towing.

For a transmission cooler, the best place to mount it would be in front of the AC condenser core for maximum efficiency. In this location, a Class II cooler like # D13502, that you have referenced would work well. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled but with the extra capacity in the system, it will take longer to warm up to operating temperature in colder climates.

I have included an FAQ article on transmission coolers and a video of a basic installation below.
